I disagree because both Gary and Goh seem to actually want to research Pokemon, so in that respect Goh is a more proper rival for Gary than Ash ever was. Frankly Goh is a lot closer to being a Pokemon Master than Ash based solely on the sheer amounts and varieties caught in such a short time, Ash is from Kanto and Goh has a better Kantodex than him.

completing the pokedex is just collecting in the anime, this isn't the manga or video games, so that isn't the point, and pokemon master means different things depending on the source.

20+ exp, they r still 11 in anime if u know :D. Plus garry was initially focussed into battles and he midway hsifted, plus u if u think ash is also under same category fightin exp players with his instinct and passion.

In another sense he serves like a strong tenured rival for Goh, just like other strong battlers ash has encountered. Having someone smarter and stronger than him makes it kind of another goal he needs to surpass

Freezer/Aritcuno was so OP in this and love it on how majestic it is every time they show it battle but Goh was just about freakin useless in the raid battle. He should just stick to what he's good at and that's just plot armor catching every pokemon with just the pokeball.
